My dryer display lights up but will not run. The power could have went out during operation not sure. This dryer has worked great until now. When you push your cycle everything works fine then when you hit start it just makes a clicking noise.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for WHIRLPOOL GEW9868KQ1 | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is the tech sheet http://www.servicematters.com/d...0Sheet%20-%203979621.pdfCould be the clicking is the motor relay on the circuit board activating. Rotate the drum in the correct direction just to make sure it is not jammed up. Could be there thermal fuse blew. This is the one on the blower Item 59 in Section 3. Unplug the unit. Remove one wire from the fuse to ensure that you do not read an alternate/parallel circuit path. Measure it with a meter, should be 0 ohms. If blown replace it ASAP as it is a critical safety device. Be sure to clean/check the blower wheel and the vent system, if it was blown as these are the most common causes of it blowing. Jiggery pokery checking method. Unplug the unit. Remove both wires from the fuse. Short them together and tape them up so they cannot short to anything else. Plug the unit in and give it a try. Could also be that the belt has broken or the belt switch is not being closed. May be something else but the above two are the most likely. |
