this is a sanyo sr3660s, 3.6cuft, the evap assembly, basically the freezer shelf, got punctured. a replacement is $68
www.pacparts.com/reference/920/SR3660S.pdf, see part 27

i was wondering what would be a reasonable estimate to recharge after the evap assembly has been replaced, and is it possible/reasonable for a home handy man to do the recharge?

Bob,

Such repair is not as simple as you think and such small refrigerator is not worth it. The price range for such refrigerator is between $250 to $500 while a special tools and equipments, which you have to buy to fix it, will cost you pretty close to $500.

ok thanks gene, in the mean time i got an estimate from a local repair shop and it was 350, so looks like a tremendous waste of the rest of it going to the dump
