Parents Amana freezer recently stopped cooling. I haven't done anything to it yet. Parents recently replaced the water filter but I don't think that has anything to do with the freezer not being cool. I opened the freezer door and could feel the fan blowing air in the freezer section. Temp setting was on the highest 7 so I change to 6 to see if made any difference. I plan to clean the coils and look around. I believe the refrig part is working okay. Any suggestions on what to look at first to find out why the freezer is not freezing?

:( Repair person visited and indicated the compressor is bad on this 4 1/2 year old refrigerator/freezer. Nothing stays cold. Cost to repair is $645. I searched for compressor parts which a compressor cost $249 plus maybe shipping etc... Would it be difficult to connect the 3 or less lines on the compressor and recharge the unit? Rfrig might be worth 3 to 350 to repair but much more than that you can buy a new unit.... Any suggestions?

I now inspected what the repair person did. Saw alot of dust so I vacuumed as much as I could around the outlet cover vent and the coils. I reconnected the starter relay and plugged the unit back in after several hours of being unplugged. Freezer seems to be working for several hours now of a constant fan running. Wondering if the fan will ever stop running. wait and see what happens next.;)
