I am having difficulty finding the thermal fuse in my model dryer. Any suggestions where to look (and what it looks like) would be much appreciated.

Here are your parts
Heater replacement parts for JENN-AIR JDE1000W | AppliancePartsPros.com

Take a look at Item 5 in Section 4 (Heater). The kit includes a new Hi-Limit Thermostat and Thermal Fuses for both gas and electric dryers.
Look on the heater case.
