The inlet valve was allowing water to drip into the tub and the timer accasionally stuck in a cycle so I replaced both. Now when filling with the warm setting, the water volume increases and decreases and switches from hot to cold rapidly causing the pipes to vibrate. It didn't do this with the old parts? Any suggestions?

The temperature changes are normal: They're controlled by the thermistor, which sends the water inlet temperature to the control board. The board, then, controls the temperature by adjusting the water flow of hot and cold, according to your selection of wash temperature. The vibration of the pipes is probably dou to unsupported plumbing, and was not noticeable with the previous valve, due to its clogged condition.
