float switch lever seems to have a disintegrating styrofoam block under it not allowing water into unit. Is that block supposed to be there?

Hi Dennis,

I do not think it suppose to be there in such position. I would remove it.

Here are the break down diagrams for the Bosch dishwasher Model SHU3036 UC/12 (FD 8003-)

Gene.

Is this the styrofoam float that is under a grey plastic pivot arm that raises the red rod to activate the base water safety system. When the float raises the water is shut off and the drain will run.
Mice like to eat this that may be the reason for the damge.
