Good evening everyone... So I have been with this refrigerator for about 3 years since I purchased the home (around 10 years old the fridge). It was brought to my attention that I should not have to be running the freezer at a setting of 5 and fridge at a setting of 4 all the time to get to deserable temperatures. These settings are the only way to achieve 0 degrees in freezer and about 42 degrees in fridge section. If I put them mid way, well it will just be higher temperatures. So with my research on this site, I decided to take a look at the freezer coils. I took the panel off and the coils do seem ok, except the last two rows of coils that do have some frost on them. Not sure if this is normal or should be completely with no frost. I took some pictures and attached them for your opinion. In regards to the coils at the bottom of the fridge, well I clean these once a year and last cleaning was about 3 months ago. I do hear the compressor turning on and then off, but I would imagine having these settings so high, the refrigerator overall is constantly running. Any help or info greatly appreciated. Thanks hgiljr attached the following image(s):

If it has been running for 3 years at theses settings I would not mess with it. I do hear the compressor turning on and then off, but I would imagine having these settings so high, the refrigerator overall is constantly running Do not quite understand the above. If you can hear it turning on and off (cycling) then it is not running constantly.
I would check that the condenser/compressor fan is running and the blades are clean. |
