I had to replace a water inlet valve. ordered from appliance part pros saved 50%++ and got shipping in 18 hours!!! Excellent!

Anyway...

The new valve is configured slightly different from the original. The only electrical connection is a 2 prong off the valve to a 2-female "socket" off the wiring. (I know nothing about electricity or terminology). One of the female "sockets" has 2 wires going into it from the appliance. The other has 1 wire going into it from the appliance.

The socket fits both ways onto the male brass parts of the valve. So it can be connected 2 opposite ways.

My question is how do I know which way to connect the female end of the wires to the male end of the valve.

Hope this is decipherable! Any help would be appreciated!!
