The above model washer with s/n 1712031767 was given to me yesterday for possible repair. I took it apart and found the drive belt broken. This is typically p/n 38174 And I replaced it. .Over the past several years I have replaced a few of these belts and the idler pulley and lever is held against the belt with a spring to provide tension. A tension coil spring is used and I have noted that all of these units have a spring with a anti rattle sleeve around the spring coils. Some have a sleeve with a black color and some have a sleeve with an orange color or some other color. Is this sleeve color to indicate the spring strength or is it just random. Can anyone shed some light on this ?
