I have a GE pss27nstass refrigerator. A couple of days ago it stopped running. I discover the 5sp overload/ptc was burnt with a big 'ole hole in it. Replaced overload start relay and capacitor knowing it wouldn't be my only problem, but it was a place to start. Wires to compressor are not receiving any VDC. Compressor windings are good and carry solid resistance to spec. I know the start relay is good and the capacitor. When I plug my fridge in, you can hear the condenser coil fan try to spin, but the relay doesn't click, the compressor isn't running and the temperature readings on the control board are not visible. I suspect the overload not doing it's job correctly has caused a short circuit or overload on the main control board, but want to be sure before I drop 400 dollars on a new one. What direction do I go in? Is my suspicion correct? Knowing someone may ask, no the circuit board has no indication of burn marks or failure. The fuse on the board is receiving power, I found that out two ways, testing for voltage and getting complacent and touching the fuse with the fridge still plugged in.
