I was just given an LG electric dryer by a neighbor who said t was in need of repair due to noise when the drum was turning. The model number is DLEX5101W and I have noted that this dryer uses a drum made from very thin material. The noise problem was a drum support roller which is being replaced but can anyone tell me if this drum material was ever replaced by the vendor with a heavier one ?

The original price for these dryers must be fairly cheap for the vendors to sell them at a lower cost with the expectation that they would make a large profit on replacement parts. This drum was still in one piece but I have seen several that developed cracks and split at the edge after several years of use.
