I have a Kitchen Aid KRFC300EBS02 French door Refrigerator that has been freezing the top compartment.

  • Made sure all the seal are ok.

  • The damper opens and closes on its own.

  • Thermistor has been replaced.

The repair guy who tested the damper and diagnosed the thermistor as the issue no showed on the install, but that is just as well for me. The diagnosis was what I really after. However even after replacing whole wire harness with the thermistor and overhead lights and door sensors (told me you could not just splice in a new thermistor :|) it is still freezing the refrigerator compartment.

I am worried the next thing someone is going to sell me on is a new $400 control board, but not as worried as I am that the wife is going to get tired of my manual defrost cycles and head to Lowes and pick up a whole new fridge soon.

Anyone have any experience with this issue or any ideas to try before I drop a weeks pay on a part for this fridge that may not work?
