Looking for help with a KitchenAid Side-by-side with in door ice maker. Removed the ice bucket as part of a deep clean and found a good amount of grease around the coupler that connects the motor and auger. The metal coupler itself had little if any. Most of it was on the outside of the plastic surround, some squeeze out onto the chute and lots on the receiver side in the bucket. Unclear if this is stuff that worked out of the gearbox below the coupler, or something applied after the fact.

Unknown repair history - unit came with our home and is approx 7yrs old. We've owned it for 2 years, no repairs in that time.

Repair videos and docs don't talk about grease in this spot. Is that normal? My first thought was as some kind of vapor barrier to keep condensation and ice from building up in the coupler connection. Any way to tell if this is food safe or not? If not, what are next steps for cleanup of the interface and any surfaces in the chute or ice bucket that are contaminated?
