I have a Maytag M1TXEGMYW00 refrigerator with a defrost problem. The evaporator coil is freezing up after about a week. The heater element tests good and measures 35 ohms. The defrost thermostat measures open at room temperature and ~0 ohms when I hit it with freeze mist for a bit. The compressor and fans shut off every so often as if the refrigerator is in defrost mode and restarts a while later. But it doesn't actually ever defrost. My question is can the control board still be defective even though it appears to be putting the refrigerator into defrost mode? What else could it be the cause?
