I have a Maytag 25 year old Gas Wall Oven, taking 40 minutes to preheat to 400 degrees, normally takes 20 minutes. I replaced the ignitor and temp probe 3 years ago, had the control board refurbised 5 years ago. I turned the Orifice 1/4" counter clockwise, increased the flame from burner from 1/2" on each side to 2" on each side, blue flame covers the heat shield near the broiler. It took 14 minutes to heat the oven to 400 degrees. Called Maytag, was told now by customer service not to touch factory setting, turned it back to original setting, now back to 40 minutes to preheat. Is it safe to have the flame higher to 2" blue flame on each side of broiler? Broiler is clean, also the orifice is clean. Does it have a thermostat or thermocouple to check? Gas Company checked gas value on wall, its good. How do I get my oven to preheat to 400 degrees in 20 minutes, what part is out of order? It gets to 340 degrees in 20 minutes, take another 20 minutes to get from 340 to 400. Maybe the ignitor side of thermocouple is not opening the gas value to allow more gas to the broiler?
