Recently it seems like one of the wires in the bake/broil section of the oven shorted out. I've taken off the back panel of the oven and there's a bit of burnt coloring on the cotton that surrounds one of the connectors. I assume this tripped the thermal fuse and therefore the fuse must be replaced.

What could've caused this and will replacing the thermal fuse likely fix the issue?
