Hello fellow DIY'ers and refrigerator techs
I thought I had this problem licked when I found and removed an ice plug from the drain under the freezer evaporator. Fridge ran fine and wife was happy for a couple months. Yes, life was good. Then the evaporator froze up again. So I took the freezer apart again, borrowed her hair drier and defrosted it all again..and again..several times now. I found some diagnostics info and after getting into the test mode I could see switches activate, turn fans on and off, stuff like that. It was cool. However, I am not a trained expert and wonder if maybe I messed up the programming for the defrost cycle and, if so, how to correct it. Now when I enter the diagnostic mode by simultaneously pressing the UI up and down arrows, it displays 'DF'. I imagine that could indicate 'Defroster Failure' or 'Diagnostic Failure' or 'Don't Fool-with-stuff-you-haven't-been-trained-on'.
If you have experienced this, or not, and would just like to share your two bits worth or have a little laugh on me, please respond when you have a moment. Of course I'm hoping it's a programming error but I would replace a sensor, the evaporator heater or even the main controller if necessary. Checking the resistance of the heater might be the next step. Suggestions?
Cheers
