I also have a Maytag topload washer with a hinge malfunction / design flaw. I weigh down the left back and front of the lid so it locks (sometimes requires pressure). It seems to limp along but certainly not optimal for what I paid for this washing machine. At least it works so far. I would be interested in a class action lawsuit.

Same issue here. This is the second lid that has broken. Left hinge each time. Unfortunately, I haven't ground a replacement yet.

I have the same problem with the plastic lid hinge on the back left side breaking TWICE now. The first time the glass actually shattered. My washing machine is only 3 years old. Called Maytag and they said they are unaware of the issue and I can purchase a new lid from them. Have been a loyal Maytag customer for years. Will NEVER purchase a Maytag again. Their quality has gone to hell.

Same thing. My grandma bought it for us in 2019 when we bought our house and it’s been broken for a year but we need to replace. I can’t believe there are so many people with this issue and they won’t correct their mistake. We are looking at new appliances for our kitchen and will go no where near their products again!

We have the same problem, plastic on left lid hinge cracked and broke. Lid won't lock without holding lid down. We paid for a 5 yr warranty and they won't repair the lid. They said the lid was damaged. Ah, you think?!?

Having the same problem. We've replaced twice under warranty and extended warranty and now it just broke for the 3rd time! This is ridiculous. We've had it less than 5 years.

Bought this washer and 3 months later it just quit. Maytag replaced it. THEN, , the new washer started having cycling issues, THEN Both of my hinges broke - I bought the washer in 2020, not even 3 years old yet. The panel board doesn’t work properly either! Was quoted $600 to fix that! A load I washed yesterday, ran from 10AM until 4PM. I’m having to take my lid on and off to even use the washer, even when it was basically brand new!! I just wouldn’t pay $300 to get a lid sent to me, when the washer was basically a piece of junk. Being I paid so much for the washer, I’ve tried to make it work until it just wouldn’t do anything. Now my water bill is outrageous, due to the constant re-starting cycles!! So, I’m at that point now and will buy a new washer but DEFINITELY WILL NOT BE A MAYTAG!! No help from them at all! This has been the absolute worst purchase in my 35 years of buying! I would not recommend anyone buy this product!

Same issue here with the Bravos XL and now the washer won’t work at all. This is crazy that there isn’t a recall, I’ll buy a new washer and it will never again be a Maytag!!
