The broiler to this Whirlpool SF265LXTS seems to ignite fine but pop some food in and invariably within a minute to three it shuts off. Cancel the setting and repeat and it fires right back up again. Maybe it stays lit but more than likely it will go out again. This oven is designed to broil with the door closed but what’s odd if you do leave the door open some the broiler seems to stay on. Weird. Anyway that not how it’s designed to work and we melted our knobss bit with the heat from the open door. I pretty mechanically inclined so what part(s) should I be replacing?
Thanks, Jeff in MA

Hello ggec300. Thank you for your question. Your range is Direct Spark Ignition (DSI). Such ranges are operated by an Electronic Range Control (ERC) and included a Gas Distribution System (GDS) regulator/valve, four top burners and two oven spark electrodes (bake and broil). Due to an ability for flame sensing within the oven, it will continually monitor the flame presence. One of the most common problem with the oven is when the bake or broil (in your case) burner will light for a few seconds and then cut off. Besides lighting the flame the tip of the burner igniter is also sensing the flame presence sending the signal to the DSI control aka a spark module. That’s why it is so important to have the oven igniter properly aligned with the oven burner gas ports (lighting holes) and keep it free of a grease. So the first step is to verify that the igniter is mounted correctly and the tip of the igniter is clean. You can use a soft metal brush or rubbing alcohol to clean the igniter tip. The next step is to check the broil burner gas ports (lighting holes). Remove the Broil burner and check the lighting holes. You can try to enlarge them using a drill bit one size bigger. If it would not help then the Broil burner would need to be replaced. The the Broil burner Part number: ap6011648
This part is temporary out of stock. You can find the ETA by calling the customer service at 1-877-477-7278 Good luck and keep us posted.
