Time Invested on Repair4 hours because I took my time to document and photograph the repair so I would be able to retrace my steps
Before we startDisconnect the breaker switch or turn off power that feeds the microwave/oven combo unit.
Step 1: Remove Oven Door - See video here
Youtube. Different model but very similar.
Pearls: Go slow, take your time, brute force is not required. Door is heavy.
Step 2: Remove 2 screws that secure the oven onto the wood paneling.
Pearls: Screws are black and located midway on left and ride side of oven on the vertical black metal. Remove the face plate
Step 3: Disconnect the wires located at top of the cabinet.
Pearls: Remove the face plat that secure wires. Wires are thick so take your time not to poke your fingers with copper wires which feel thick. Push the wire and wire housing through the hole so oven is easy to remove
Step 4: Pull the oven and microwave out in one easy pull. Grab the oven from the inside, just underneath the knob panel and pull firmly but controlled.
Pearls: Place a chest or wooden/metal box that is pretty close to even with the bottom of oven. This way the chest/wooden/metal box will be utilized to hold the oven/microwave weight while we work on the unit.
Step 5: Disconnect Microwave from the Oven. Plug is on the back side of unit. Remove the screws that secure microwave to oven. Remove microwave and place on counter.
Pearls: Make sure to trace and remove correct screws. Organize screws in separate Dixie cups or jars.
Step 6: Remove back place from Oven to have access to fan area. Remove rectangular door from top of oven to get to the Module
Pearls: Make sure to remove screws slowly, store in separate Dixie Cups/bowl
Step 7: Remove the old Module and replace with new part
Pearls: Mark all cables connections on Module with Sharpie marker.
Step 7: Remove and Replace Thermostat.
Pearls: Unscrew from inside the oven going through door opening. Disconnect cable from back of oven. Pull cable through front. Use a long wood skewer stick to feed new cable through front to connect in back. Replace screws.
Step 8: I removed and replaced the fan because the older one was greaser, dusty, grimy and 10 years old.
Pearls: Take 2 screws off and slightly bend metal part away to remove fan. Take a photo to make sure new fan is secured correctly.
Step 9: Clean and wipe down dust and grime with slightly wet sponge. Be careful not to wet electronics.
Step 10: Retrace steps and secure all screws, making sure to replace the microwave to the oven. Easy to line up with bottom of feet.
Pearls: do not tighten all screws until every screw is aligned.
Walaaa Done. I LOVE AppliancePart Pros, great service and assistance on ordering right parts. I saved $700 dollars doing this myself. Great project, great pride and my wife was super happy because everyone who overpriced their services would not be able to come out for 3-4 months.
How do I post photos and video?
