Hello,

I have a Thermador PGR486GDZS gas oven and it won't stay lit. It was purchased in 2004. When I use the oven, it sounds like it ignites every time (you hear the spark and then the 'woosh' sound), but then shortly after it clicks and turns off. I can usually get it going (stays on) after trying 3 or so times, but it seems like it's getting worse, taking 5 or more tries sometimes now. Once it's on, it works fine, maintaining heat, etc.
This morning I took off the bottom panel and grate to expose the gas bar and igniter. It was all reasonably clean. Next to the gas bar, there is an electrode which is shaped like an "L" pointing towards the gas bar, there's an identical "L" shaped wire right next to it. I turned the oven on with all of this exposed, and one of the electrodes sparked against the gas bar and it lit up without a problem... and then shut itself off. I tried it again and the same thing happened. So, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the gas igniting, something seems to be telling the oven to turn off even though it is lit? Why would this happen? What is the little electrode looking thing next to the igniter? By the way, this was all happening on the smaller of the two ovens, but the larger one does the same thing, but to a lesser extent.

Thanks!
