Hello,

My old Roper Dryer (Model EL5030VW0) is having an issue. My wife normally uses the auto dry capability of this dryer versus the timed version. Well the other day the dryer ran without stopping meaning the timer did not advance in the auto dry mode. However, the timer does advance in the specific time mode. So I guess the timer is still OK.

So I have been researching this and tested the cycling thermostat which seems to have continuity at room temperature and then when I put a heat gun to it it closed at 155 degrees as it should so I think this thermostat is OK.

What are some other areas to look at? It appears that the heating element is not cycling off when the auto dry process is engaged which I understand it should be.

Could the issue be with the Heating Element shorting out in some fashion or I noticed that there is a timer power resistor that could also go bad.

Would these be the 2 areas to focus on in diagnosing the issue. If so, can you give me any instructions on how to test these 2 areas to narrow down the problem. If there are any other things I need to look at please advise.

Thanks In Advance
