Howdy, this is Gary… My issue today is with a GE dryer about 8 yrs old (model GTDP490ED2WS ). When I push the start button the motor rotates and so does the dryer drum, but everything stops immediately when I let off the start button. The door switch does not seem to be the issue, to me, but no continuity check performed. This symptom happens regardless of where the timer/cycle switch is set.

I would have thought I need a dryer motor relay to keep the motor on, but I do not see one in the parts list on any of the parts sites. Is the relay built into some other component or is the function integrated into the motor somehow? And If there is no electromagnetic relay, how does a dryer motor continue to run once you release the push-to-start button?

Thank you for your time
