I am repairing a Kegerator Beer Bar, basically a mini fridge that had a bad compressor PTC. The PTC is a 4.7 ohm and they do not make anymore but I found one that works. Installed it , ran for an hour at 1.1 amps and everything good, until I tried to plug it in again about a half hour later. When I plugged it in, amp meter jumped to 6 amps and then down to 4 and compressor never turned. I let it set overnight, plugged it in again and it started and ran just fine. I let it run for several hours unattended and when I returned, the thermal was tripped and compressor hot like it was trying to start but unable. I think the compressor has something wrong internally and must be cold to start. I have lightly tapped the compressor with a hammer once that seemed to make a difference but this is not repeatable. The start / run winding resistance seems to be opposite of everything I read online for these small compressors and it seems to run great with the correct current while running. Can I have something internal wrong with the compressor? Can I install a hard start kit to get it to run a little longer? Thanks for the help.
common to s = 4 ohms
common to r = 17 ohms
s - r = 21 ohms
