Hello,

Recently, our Whirlpool GST9679PW1 washer makes the noise in the video while draining, right before the spin cycle activates. There is an audible click right at the start of the video. During the Normal wash cycle setting, there are two Spin cycles that occur, and this noise happens each time it drains right before both spin cycles. It comes on sudden and loud, and smooths out within like a minute. This occurs now consistently with no variation in when, sound, or duration.

There are no detectable performance issues - the cycle completes and the clothes are clean and damp. Every once in a while, the cycle will pause midway through and we have to manually nudge the main knob.

I've spent hours researching, but not finding info on the exact model. Hoping the fine folks here can point me in the right direction before I take things apart and order stuff I don't need once again.

The noise started maybe three weeks ago. We've done about 5 - 10 loads of laundry since the noise began.

*New YouTube video shows what's happening with lid open - drum shouldn't spin while draining. Drum should begin spinning clockwise only when draining completes and Spin cycle begins*:

I'm trying to provide you the video I made, which may be the key to successfully diagnosing:
