I bought this from a sears warehouse. looked like just a scratch and dent special. warranty was only 6 months if I remember right. I had it in storage for 3 years while house got renovated. So Warranty long gone. I even tried.

Every 4months +\- it produces ice along the bottom of the freezer floor and the fridge floor (assumed from defrost water refreezing). remove the back covers and the coils are covered in ice.
first two times I simply defrosted it and reassembled it second time I installed heater strips for the drains. since then the drains have always been clear, but it is still icing up every 4 months. I have had a tech come out twice.. first was by the actual Kenmore help line. neither were able to help and just wanted to defrost the unit.
I cant find a tech that will actually diagnose the problem.

I currently have an error 1F which is for the icemaker fan. (ice has crawled up so bad it has clogged the fan).
All the fans sound and appear ok. I can hear the one kick on when I shut the door. no ice directly around the defroster, but coils are still iced.
I don't have a traditional door switch on this fridge so I cant bypass it to test the fans while I have it in pieces. (nothing will turn on when door is open). no water leaks from water feed.

sooo.. my theory is that either the defroster is not strong enough (tests ok) or the logic is not defrosting often enough. ??
being in FLorida.. humidity is higher, but fridge is indoor and its usually about 60-70% humid.

We love the fridge, but this is annoying and time consuming.

suggestions? buy a new fridge.. not LG? lol

I cannot find any details on the drain tubes.. if they are routed correctly. could be allowing humid air in? maybe water is backing up?

apparently this fridge was a return, for this very problem and lg just put it back on the sales floor.
