Okay, so followed all of the Howtos on here and have it apart. There was debris in the sump by the grinder but nothing binding it.

There is a 1/4" bare spot on the heating element--shiny steel is visible.

There are two wires plugged into the control board at CON1 at the top of the plug that appear to have gotten hot maybe? They have door insulation on them and seem brownish. There are corresponding marks on the insulation. The lower wire of the two is white with a red stripe.

Does anyone know what these connect to? I'm guessing that that part is what triggered the thermal switch which is open. Thermal switch is original and I bought the unit in late 2006. I would rather repair than replace since I will be moving in the not to distant future. It has run fine other than replacing the grinder five years ago.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Bob
