The timer on my Maytag runs when the dryer is stopped, and will cycle just like it should. But, hit the start button, and the timer stops running, the dryer works fine, but the timer does not. Open the door to stop it, the timer starts. Any ideas?

Answering my own question, the moisture sensor was hooked up incorrectly. Mine has 4 push on terminals, only two are used. The moisture sensor really is reading the moisture and when the 'More' light is on, the timer motor is not running. As things dry out, the light flickers and finally goes out almost all the time. When it flickers or when it is out, the control board supplies neutral to the timer motor and the timer runs. When the dryer is stopped but on, like opening the door, the sensor picks up nothing, light is out, it thinks things are dry so the timer runs. I was working on my dryer, my elbow got hooked in the wiring and as I rolled away to get off the floor I pulled out several connectors, the moisture sensor hookup tricked me.
