I occasionally have problems with the defrost drain on my refrigerator getting clogged with ice. I know how to clear it out, but it's a pain. One site online recommends attaching a piece of copper wire to the heater, and letting it hang down to the melt catch; the wire will conduct enough heat to keep it from re-freezing, or to melt anything that collects there. http://www.appliance-rep...t.com/clogged-drain.htmlIt seems clever, but is this a wise idea? I'm wondering if I should be concerned about electricity travelling down the wire, and going who-knows-where. If it's so simple and effective, why aren't refrigerators built with this feature already there? Edited by user Wednesday, August 21, 2019 4:31:16 PM(UTC)
