We took the Whirlpool refrigerator with us to a new home (we had acquired it in buying the previous home) and now both the freezer and refrigerator part are not properly cooling/freezing. The period of non-cooling is too long in both compartments. The ice in the freezer actually melts and then re-freezes into large blocks during the next freezing. And food in the refrigerator has warmed, with the milk quickly spoiling in fact. Note that it is not the case that the product has stopped working: it is just that the interval of cooling/freezing appears to be too long. Changing rotary controls has no effect: in the past, I could hear the motor kick in. Seems like a thermostat problem.

We had movers move the appliance, but there is no visible damage that we can see; the trouble has however occurred since the move. What is the list of components MOST LIKELY to be at fault and to be checked in order of likelihood? I have the ability to disassemble parts and a meter to check circuit continuity.
