This model of Refidgerator was installed in my when my house was build 6 years ago. Most of the people in my neighborhood have also had problems with the ice maker not making ice. Since it stopped working quite awhile ago I have replaced the whole ice maker unit which did not help, it still did not make ice. The water dispenser works fine. When I fill the ice bucket with ice purchased from the store the ice dispenser also works. After a day or so in the ice bucket inside the doors of the fridge the ice seems to be melting slightly because the top layer of ice is smooth, clearer and stuck together while the lower sections seems to stay mostly frozen. After assessing the door there are 2 areas where cold air seems to be blowing into the door to keep the temperature. When I hold my hand up to the ducts there seems to be cold air blowing through the bottom duct but nothing from the top which is closer to where the ice maker unit is.
It seems therefore that the door isn't achieveing/maintaining the temperature. I'm looking for ideas from someone with experience working on refridgerators/freezers on whether this might be a fan problem?, a seal problem?, a temperature sensor problem?
I've taken a short video from my phone which i'll upload to imgur but it basically just highlights this problem.
Thanks in advance.
