I would sugest to check the cold control first. Sounds like it is bad. Parts can be ordered from this website

I was told to replace the thermostat def.
I would like to know how to get at it ....the diagram on the site does not seem to match the fridge.

I have the same issue - milk is ice and the ice maker and water do not work anymore.

What is the temperature in the freezer and refrigerator?

What exactly is going on with the ice maker and the ice and water dispenser?

Gene.

Okay..about a year ago, the ice maker was making ice, but the water was not coming out of the frige. I searched online and got a gasket kit that basically protected the tubes that lead to where the water was comeing out - it stopped it from getting the tube frozen. The ice dispenser was okay, it was making ice at the time. The milk in the frige and soda was not turning into ice.

Just about a couple of days ago - all that changed.
1. the ice maker stopped making ice all togehter.
2. the water was not coming out of the dispenser in the door.
3. the milk and soda were ice inside the frige.

I searched online and got a thermostat def - thingy. for the pss25mgmaww. I opened the frige up yesterday..it looks like some kind of dampner door is broken inside where the cool air comes into the frige. I will purchase a new one - but is that the only thing wrong iwth this thing ???

DO i need the main circuit board or the temperature gauge board in the front of it - where you set how cold it is ???

There are two separate problems with your refrigerator - temperature in the refrigerator and the water/ice dispenser. I would recommend the damper control and the main control board together.

- The part number for the damper control is AP3775595

- The part number for the main control board is AP3950129

Here are the break down diagrams for the GE refrigerator Model PSS25MGMAWW

THe part number which i purchased was a PART# WR49X10091 for the damper control. This part is different then the original, but it looks like i can modify it to be like the original - what are your views on doing that ??? It is laid out the say way - except the styraphone component needs a little adjustment - i think GE uses this part in a couple of their frigerators.
thanks mjh

When I look up the part on AppliancePartsPros using the part number for the Damper Control that Gene gave you, it looks like it includes directions on how to modify it for different units.

Perhaps you can zoom in on the directions and get some useful info off of it.

yes..it does - but it does not say which GE Arctic it is for. And also the difference between the original and the replacement is something that is not in the notes...I have to cut the styrophone and take part of the old and put it in the new one.

Is there a tech GE support number that I can call to find out if this part is for this frigerator ???

I have inherited this older GE PSS25MGMA frige. It was freezing food, and yes the damper door was broken. (don't understand how it got broken, there's nothing in there to cause it to jamb.)

Anyway, took it apart and epoxy the door back together. Verified that it is working properly. Re-installed.

HOWEVER, the fridge side is still freezing (20*).

What else could be the issue? Mother Board?
