Hi: I have a KitchenAid KUDS01IJ diswasher that suddenly is taking a long time to cycle. It does finish and the dishes are clean.

When it starts, the timer shows 70. The pre-rinse works fine and the counter counts down normally.
Once the first wash cycle starts, the timer is on 60 and it stays on 60 for quite some time: 30 minutes plus.
It will eventually go through the rest of the cycle, but the entire process takes 3 + hours, when it should take about 70 minutes.

Thoughts?

So more data:
The Normal cycle pauses at the 60 minute mark for quite some time.
The Pots/Pans cycle pauses at 84 mintues for quite some time.
(both cycles probably pause elsewhere, but I haven't been able to watch the dishwasher for 3+ hours at a time. :-) )

I then saw this post:

... that talks about 'Thermal Hold Intervals.'

Is it possible that's what I'm experiencing? And if we assume that the water isn't being heated properly, and the 'thermal hold interval' is just timing out, how do I troubleshoot that?

Is there a way to test if the heating element is bad? Could it be anything else?

For those of you following along...
After finding a service manual online, it became obvious that I was experiencing delays due to a 'thermal hold,' while the water heated (or tried to heat).
Eventually these cycles time out if the water never heats.
So the heating element or some part of that circuit was bad.

I expected the problem to be the heating element, but I was surprised to find that it tested good at 9 ohms.
Next, I tested the thermostat. It had continuity.

I then looked for voltage coming from the control board while running a test cycle. Nada.
So it looks like my problem is the control board.
I'll report back here with results once I replace it.
