Friends,

Having hard time removing the inner metal tub on my Whirlpool style Kitchen AideKAWE679BBL1. I have confirmed the leak is coming from the plastic outer tub seal.

One of my questions is there a tool or technique to remove the tub, as at the bottom of the tube there are 4 holes with metal tabs in them. (see photo) I am trying a bearing puller to pull the center piece out or loosen it a bit with no luck)

Than you.

After searching for a new washer I read that many thought the design I have was one of the best ever so trying to keep it running...

Appliance Friends,

I finally got the the inner tub off using as two arm gear puller. It would not have come off any other way. The inner tub would not have come off anyway as the the washer drive block was held in place by a large round finned plastic piece called a filter that snapped into the bottom of the inner tub by plastic tabs into the holes in my photo.

The inner tub support was badly rusted and I was going to repair it but found a replacement online. Not sure if anyone cares but will update this with some pics as I go along!
