Turned the dryer on and it ran for approximately 1 min. I turned the knob again, it started and stopped whenI released the knob. I turned it again to make sure the drum was spinning, which it was and was also heating up. I’ve been doing research, and still to sure where to start. I need some direction on where to begin, and what part to begin replacing. I hardly use my dryer, so it is in fairly good shape, and I really hate to replace it. But, at the same time don’t want to sink a fortune in it. Do you think I should replace the motor, because it does start, just wont stay on. Or should I replace the relay to begin? It was running and stopped within a short time. Can anyone advise? Thanks for any help!:) :)

So if I understand what you are saying, if you push and hold the start knob the dryer will run but as soon as you release the knob it stops?

You may have a problem with the timer switch. Also on a lot of GE dryers a broken belt switch is built into the design that may be malfunctioning. This switch is difficult to get to as it is down behind the motor. The drum would need to be removed to get to it. If this is the problem area it could be bypassed or replaced.
