I have a Maytag Centennial MEDC200XW1 Dryer that we've owned for about 5 years now. Has been a great dryer. 2 weeks ago, the dryer started not drying clothes. It would run a full cycle and do nothing. A few days ago it began shutting off and not starting back up immediately. Did some reading, suggested replacing the high limit thermostat and the thermal cut off switch. Bought new ones from a local appliance repair. Installed both, thought we were in business. Dryer ran 20 mins, heating, then cut off and had to wait 5 minutes (roughly) in order to restart it. Bypassed the thermal fuse, as was told this could be an issue. Don't have a MM present, will have one available tomorrow. In looking at my wiring diagram, I see the start switch and motor run through my cycling thermostat (correct me if wrong) and I'm beginning to think this is my issue. Any insight would be much appreciated. Stumped:confused:

Update: Brought my meter home. Started with the thermal fuse, cycling thermostat, thermostat cutout, hi cutout. All had continuity. Next I checked the heating element. Continuity. I checked voltages 120 on both legs of the power cord. I found that I only had 120 at the element. Checked continuity at the timer on posts A & C. None......unless we pushed the switch in. Took the timer apart and found the metal contact burned and unable to make contact. cleaned and tweaked them. Alls good with the element now. Has 240, heats up. Still have the issue with the dryer cutting out after 5 - 10 mins. Does the motor have an internal breaker?

Yes the motor has a thermal overload and it will kick out to prevent the motor from overheating.
