Our Kenmore Series 90 washer drains and spins normally. However, when it agitates, the lower section only moves in a clockwise direction, even when pressing down on the agitator assembly.

I have replaced the drive coupler several times over the years and the lid switch was replaced a couple of years ago. The transmission was rebuilt about two and a half years ago.

What should I check as a possible cause?

Thanks!

When you press down on the agitator and it's only spinning clockwise, can you feel if its trying to turn counter clockwise? It might then be an issue with the transmission. or
Can you spin the lower section by hand at all in either direction? If so the lower section of the agitator has splines that fit over the drive shaft, they may be wearing out or the 7/16 bolt may be loose holding in place.
