I bought this second hand and was told it was about a $100 repair. Since I have a handyman friend, I figured I could fix for just the cost of the part... so maybe only $50. And, now when I call Whirlpool they won't assess the problem, they only want to send out a tech. I'm not sure where the prior owner got his "$100 repair" idea as Whirlpool won't tell me anything. I'm better of getting rid of the unit if I can't repair myself. Can you please offer any guidance? It sounds like it might be worth it to try to replace the timer.... or just run it as is until I'm 'over it'.

Give us a better description of the problem and how you are doing the current work around. (i.e. how are you advancing manually)

The timer is digital and advancing it to a new position should not affect the way it runs.

More info please.
