Maytag Centennial MVWC200BW0... a computer problem?
Hello, people.
A Maytag Centennial MVWC200BW0 commercial washer "mostly" doesn't work...
I disabled the lid lock, so that I could see what it does.
I started a Wash cycle. With the Fill lite on, water came in.
Then, the Wash lite lit up.
After about 30 seconds, the agitator moved forcefully (as it should)... ONCE.
That is, it moved for only about 1/2 a second.
About 30 seconds later, it did the same thing again.
Up to now, with the Wash lite on, I heard many Clicks, once every few seconds.
Then, 5 minutes of silence, and no movement at all.
Then, the tub started to spin... for only about 1/2 a second.
Then, 30 seconds of silence and inactivity.
Then, another Spin for 1/2 a second.
Then, silence and inactivity for about 10 minutes.
Then, the agitator moved again... once.
Then, 30 seconds of inactivity.
Then, the agitator moved again... once.

I held the Start/Pause to cancel the cycle, and it drained nicely,
while the tub didn't move at all.

I've searched this (very informative) forum...
I don't think the problem is the Coupler, or the Lid Switch.
The thing Does move like it should... but only for very short spurts.
I read a bit about starting diagnostic tests by spinning the "normal cycles" switch,
and that did light up the 5 lites, but I got no further with that.

The plastic gear teeth in the agitator look good.

There probably is a computer, or at least a PC board in this thing.
Might that be the problem? Is it worth replacing that?

What ideas might you experts have?

Thanks very much.

A status update, gents...
I retrieved the Service Technician's booklet from underneath...
The error codes appear to be F7E6 (Motor Fault) and F7E5 (Shifter Fault).

I tried running the MANUAL Test Mode, but the LidLock light would not light.
It ran Hot and Cold water, and Drained. But when it came to Spin or Agitation,
all lights flashed for a few seconds because of that LidLock thing.

HOWEVER,...

When I ran it in the AUTOMATIC Test Mode, the LidLock light Was ON.
The LidLock override involved simply removing the magnetic part from the lid,
and putting it down that hole where it would be when the lid is actually down.
That allows me to see what the machine is doing during normal operation,
and in Diagnostic Automatic mode, but not in Diagnostic Manual mode. Weird.
Does anybody know why that would be?

Anyway, in Automatic Test mode, the booklet displays the duration of each step...
Cold Water On... 5 seconds. Hot Water On... 5 seconds. Etc...
The only steps that did Not run as expected were...
Shifter Moves To Agitation Position... 5 to 15 seconds.
and
Shifter Moves To Spin Position... 5 to 15 seconds.
The machine just stayed in those steps for several minutes...
until I hit the START button, to force it into the next step.

Maybe That's a good clue? Could the entire problem be the Shifter?
I watched your video about changing the Shift Actuator... easy.
Tomorrow, I'll look at that "Shift Actuator", just to see if there are any obvious problems.

Any other advice?

Thanks.

Another update... I went thru the booklet's process to determine where the problem lies,
and it is apparently in the main computer board. Too expensive to replace it.
So, I bought a used machine from Craigslist, same make, and similar model number.
It works. All is well.

And my last question to this thread...
The latest count is... 192 Views, and ZERO replies from anybody but me.
Will Somebody Please tell me WHY nobody offered any advice here?
Is it because you guys don't like the idea that I disabled the LidLock?
Any answer would be Greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
