Noticed clothes slightly damp several times in past, but today there's not any heat. Machine runs and time cycle works - but no heat. What should I check and how to know problem?

Hi Burke, The first thing I would do is check the following parts for continuity:
1. The heating element (#17 on the break down diagram)
2. The thermal cut-off (#9 on the break down diagram)
3. The hi limit thermostat (#15 on the break down diagram)
4. The cycling thermostat (#8 on the break down diagram)
The following article on our forum will explain in detail how to run a continuity test using either an analog meter or a digital meter – How to check continuity with Ohmmeter.
Any of these parts with an open circuit has to be replaced.
- The part number for the heating element is AP3109438
- The part number for the thermal cut-off (including the hi limit thermostat) is AP3094224
- The part number for the hi limit thermostat is AP2973862
- The part number for the cycling thermostat is AP3131939 Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LEC6848AW0 Gene.

Dear Gene, Thank you for the the blueprint for resoving my dryer problem. It's now 6:45 pm EST here in S.C. so I will start my road for repair Weds. am.. I shall notify you of my findings - and thank you once again. Burke
