how do i remove the knob on the timer shaft?

i want to remove the timer from the control panel.

If you pull on it should just slide off. As old as that unit appears to be you may need to slip a small screw driver under it to pry on it slightly.

I am not familar with this unit but many timer knobs are held on the shaft by a hex nut on the shaft. This hex nut is accessed by popping off a small plastic cap on the surface of the timer shaft.
