Unless you line dry it is likely your dryer that is the problem. Poor airflow makes like stay on clothing.

You are correct there is no lint filter on those units. Filters were pretty useless in older washers,; unless they circulated the water through them they had little effect. Dryers remove lint by the nature of their airflow. Hence the filter on dryers.

Check all edges of the agitator for sharp or rough spots that may he abrading the clothing. Beyond that there is little that the washer could be doing to create lint.
You may also run a rinse cycle and see if there is lint stuck in the machine before it drains. If it isn't damaging fabrics or already in the machine I have no further idea.

Honestly though, the majority of lint complaints are due to the actual fabrics just breaking down. The dryer removes this lint so items that are not run through the dryer just show it worse.

That unit, called a direct drive by us, is probably the most successful of the last 30+ years and I've worked on thousands. I don't recall ever having a lint complaint that wasn't due to routine fabric wear or items like Kleenex or napkins getting washed.

I have had the problem with lint on clothes coming from the washer. Make sure you only wash like fabrics together. Like cotton shirts washed with 50/50 cotton/polyester you will end up with lint more in the blended fabric. Don't wash any towels with anything but towels, same for rugs ect. Make sure you are not over filling clothes in the washer. I find that having more water above top of clothes at lease 3 inches helps. Try using warm/hot to wash them. I assume your washer doesn't have a clean cycle. With washer empty put soap that you would use for a large load and 1-2 cups of vinegar in with soap and in rinse. Run on hottest water Possible with a 2nd rinse if your washer has that option. If you only wash in cold, and always use Softener, your washer will get build up in it. Also, do you have soft or hard water? Makes a difference and how your clothes get clean. If you clean as I stated above, and your still getting lint, try again but stop the washer after agitates it for a minute and let soak for 4- 12 hours. Also check the labels on your items washing. Wash according to fabric labels, fabric types, hot/cold, gentle, or normal cycles. Make sure your rinse cycle is getting enough water to rinse them too.

I have had hard water, much easier to wash clothes in. Now I have extreme soft water and soap and lint are constant problems for me. I have tried Many different chemicals sold For laundry, ect and many re wash cycles without soap to get soaps and lint Out. So I hope this information helps you.
