Washer when loaded makes banging sound when in spin cycle. When empty tub can be pushed to one side at top and stays, does not return to center. Washer is level, have checked springs and all are ok.

The fact that it doesn't return to center isn't surprising on this one and isn't of immediate concern. Does it do it if you spin it empty?
There are 2 screws at the bottom of front panel, they will allow that panel to slide down and come off. Watch it and see if you can see what is banging or if possible video it and post so we can see and hear.
