What is this part in the picture? Six in 1 screwdriver beside it for reference size. I have a LG wm2487hwma washer. I took it apart to change the bearings that were shot. This part I do not know where it came from or where it goes but it seems important. What is it and where does it go?

We call it a mushroom valve and it sits in the air vent on top of tub to try to reduce suds and water from being pushed into the vent tube and out the back of the machine. Pull that air vent "bellows" off then drop it into the hole in the middle.

They are known to stick in place and still allow suds out the vent. I usually trim most of that rubber sleeve off to help it move better when I see customers having an issue of suds out the back of the washer.
