I am trying to diagnose this Frigidaire stack washer/dryer. The owner was washing a blanket. When they came back the blanket was soaking wet and everything had stopped. The washer would not turn back on. The dryer works fine.

The first thing I suspected was the lid switch, but it is working fine.

The next thing I suspected was the motor starter cap, and I replaced it, but it still does not work.

I downloaded a service manual. The flowchart suggests the motor may be bad, but if I power it directly it works.

I am going over there this morning to run some more tests. I know it sounds crazy, but I'm thinking it's the timer. Is there a way to test it to make sure?

Anything else I should check? This one's got me scratching my head for sure!

Check the drain pump. Blankets love to come apart and clog them.

A clogged drain pump will stop the whole machine? It is like it is unplugged, absolutely unresponsive. No water filling, no anything. I've never heard of that, but I will check it today.

If a machine is unable to drain nothing else happens. I always at least inquire about that.

So when you try to start the machine from any normal cycle start with the lid closed what happens? Anything at all?

Does the dryer both heat and tumble?

The dryer both heats and tumbles.
The washer does nothing at all and is totally unresponsive.
