If there are no LED lights under the knob this is a direct drive machine and your brake is engaging too effectively. You can clean and/or replace the brake pads to solve it.
Usually it means some oil has crept up onto the brake/drive tube or the pads. If you can recreate by opening the lid during spin that's definitively it.
It isn't really an emergency style issue but it can cause a crack in the tub and is annoying.
The brake is located above the clutch and stops the basket when needed. Most cycles allow the basket to coast to a stop at the end but engage the brake between wash and rinse.
There are vids on youtube about it. To do it absolutely the right way you'll need a hub nut wrench. However you can do it without pulling the brake/drive tube if you are patient and somewhat mechanically inclined. I've seen people advise to even just spray a lubricant onto the brake surface to reduce the friction causing the problem. That creates a a safety issue as the basket will not rapidly stop when needed.
