SEARS KENMORE COLDSPOT REFRIGERATOR manufactured in 1992. Model number 106.9610680
Inside the freezer compartment, it says USE ICE MAKER MODEL 8550. But after looking up model 8550 all I have found are universals and none of them are compatible with my refrigerator. Can someone PLEASE help. I am in desperate need of an icemaker in this prehistoric refrigerator and I am pulling my hair out not having any luck. I have looked on ********, amazon, sears and about 200,000 other no-name sites and the closest I've gotten is a risk. I would like to know for CERTAIN that the ice maker I buy will definitely fit. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :)

According to everything I found on this, this kit should fit.

Whirlpool 1129316 Icemaker, Complete Add on Kit. - AppliancePartsPros.com

I installed a kit like this many, many years ago on my fridge. which was a 1989 Whirlpool and should be very similar to yours. (both built by Whirlpool)

It plugs into your wiring harness and you have to attach the water valve and tubing on the back of the fridge. Its all in the instructions.
