Request assistance with my 12 year old fridge not cooling. I can hear the compressor kick on but it only runs for a minute or two and then kicks off (after several minutes it repeats this process continually). I was told it most likely has a defective start run capacitor but am unable to verify exactly which item(s) I need.

I reviewed the illustrated parts breakdown on this site and noted two parts that use the term "start". Specifically, item #9 - compressor start relay and item #15 - start device, but am not sure which one I need.

I also need an opinion on whether I should buy a new fridge since this one is 12+ years old (bought new in 2004).

Any quick advice is appreciated since I'm in a pinch and will need to make a quick decision.
