Our GE WES1450DM1BB has recently started malfunctioning.

When the door is opened, the fan starts, the turntable starts and the light turns on. I have not let it run for more than 1-2 seconds in this state.

From what I've been reading, this is a common problem and the door interlock switch has failed.
Sound correct?

Will the part number of the switch be on the switch, so I know what part to order?

Tried looking up your MW, all that comes up is a glass tray.

You probably need a new switch. It will be the one that doesn't click when you press the actuator. :)

The number and amperage will be on it. Usually any micro switch with the right size terminals and an equal or better amp rating will work as a replacement.

I used to buy ones with a 21 amp rating. You could pop them open and reuse any lever from your old switch. I used them in microwaves, ovens, and icemakers. I never had one fail from amperage.

Do a search on Epay or your local electronics place.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have not opened up my microwave yet, so I don't know if it's the same part number.

I opened up the microwave and got the lower switch out. The red button on the switch isn't popping back up into it's normal position. It looks like the spring inside has broken.

The switch body says STARION, 16A switch.
