Moved into a rental a year back which has a Thermador RED30VRS smooth surface slide in with a cook'n'vent downdraft fitted to the back. Over the last year the control panel has occasionally thrown F1 after cleaning the front panel. It always went away.
During Thanksgiving & the oven stopped heating up. On inspection, the bake element was deformed in one place so I replaced it. Didn't fix the problem.
Next I tested the temperature control which is throwing 1088 ohms so I guess that's all good. Now think the control panel has gone Thermador lists NLA.
Landlord is happy to buy a new stove, but the cutout in the granite countertop is only 28-7/8th wide - an inch short for anything that's sold in any box stores. More, the cutout is 24- 1/2" deep to allow for the telescopic down draft on the back of the stove (looks like it's screwed in to the back). I'm guessing anything I buy will not be as deep as this leaving a big gap to fill unless I can find a stove with similar dimensions.
3 questions to the forum..
1. is the control panel repairable & if so who is the best to go to? 2. If I but a new range will anyone carry something that will fit into 28-7/8ths? 3. If I need to go a 30" cutout, does anyone trust cutting a slab of granite in situ (over wood floors)?
Thanks all. Jof
